Head Coach, Track and Field & Cross Country | Boise State Athletics
Boise, Idaho, Boise State Athletics invites interested applicants for the position of Head Coach, Track and Field & Cross Country. This position will be responsible to lead and maintain both the men’s and women’s Division I programs at the highest level through: recruiting, teaching techniques, scheduling, monitoring academic progress, development of volunteer/booster groups, strong relationship with local organizations, budget management, fundraising, and promoting the sport throughout the University and local community. Essential Functions: Manage the daily operations of the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs. Ensure the effective teaching and instruction of all specific technical skill areas to student-athletes. Coach student-athletes in their growth and development in the sport with techniques and fundamentals of their position and sports conditioning. Develop team and individual strategies to have the greatest chance of winning within the sport, through on-court/field teaching and video instruction. Design instructional programs for the team and individual student-athletes and instruct student-athletes on how to implement a game plan as determined for each competition. Travel to events and evaluate potential student-athlete talent, correspond with all prospects via email, phone, face-to-face conversations, etc. Complete all necessary Compliance and Institutional documentation as required. Recruit student-athletes who meet University academic and athletic standards. Responsible for direct supervision of assistant coaches, all staff disciplinary actions, and any other personnel management duties as required to maintain a successful staff. Responsible for overall performance of athletes’ academic progress by working closely with the academic support staff. Work with the NCAA Compliance Office to make sure programs and student-athletes are complying with all rules and regulations regarding compliance issues. Responsible for successfully managing an annual budget including all necessary fiscal planning. Promote the program to the public including, media, donors, the University community and the general public to increase visibility and revenues for the program. Women's Lacrosse Internship | Washington & Jefferson College
Washington, Pennsylvania, The Washington & Jefferson College department of athletics offers paid coaching internships to provide a hands-on learning experience with a NCAA Division III sports organization. The W&J athletic internship program is an excellent step toward a coaching career in a number of different sports. The internship (August 1, 2024 - May 31, 2025) provides a monthly stipend, housing, and a meal stipend. A current opportunity is available in the sport of women's lacrosse. The program's objective is to use the college's NCAA Division III sports to give aspiring coaches opportunities to observe, participate and gain experience to eventually become a head coach at the collegiate level. Designed as a vocational tool, the program will educate interns on specific aspects of the duties of a head coach, including recruiting (30 percent), practice planning (10 percent), on-field instruction (40 percent) and video editing and other assigned duties (10 percent). On-field coaching experience will provide the intern with an opportunity to test personal ideas and coaching methods under the direction of a seasoned, veteran head coach. The intern will learn the rules and regulations with recruiting under the NCAA Division III umbrella. The program provides the opportunity to gain exposure on a highly-competitive NCAA Division III coaching staff, while increasing marketability to a future employer. The intern will have the ability to be exposed to resume-building situations while applying coaching concepts and principles. Hands-on opportunities to work with equipment and technology offered by the college will also enhance the experience. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to be exposed to the administrative side of the athletic department through experiences with game management, facility coordination and working with the college's Student Athlete Advisory Council. This position will assist the daily operations of facility management within Lawrence Tech Athletic venues while assisting in the event management and operations of all Lawrence Tech Athletic contests. In addition, the selected candidate(s) will report to the Assistant AD for Athletic Operations; and work closely with all full-time coaches and staff alongside student Athletic Operations staff. RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to) | 40%- Manage and assist full-time staff in the execution of repairs, cleanings, and general maintenance oversight of assigned athletic venues. Includes performing walk-throughs with rentals, liaising with university maintenance staff, and direct reports. 40%- Manage and assist in event management of Lawrence Tech Athletic contests, including liaising with opposing teams, sports medicine, rentals, on-campus groups, and oversight of student workers. 20%- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of student workers within the Athletic Operations team. Hanover, New Hampshire, The Athletics Compliance Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Compliance Office to provide support for the Dartmouth College Athletics Department in all aspects of the comprehensive compliance program for 35 varsity sports, including rules education, monitoring, and enforcement. COMPLIANCE MONITORING, AUDITING & EDUCATION (90%) Responsible for comprehensive monitoring and auditing of NCAA and Ivy league rules and regulations outlined below. Including the review of effective and efficient monitoring systems, use of DCARD compliance technology, creation of education documents, and regular meeting with coaches and staff. NCAA Bylaw 11 (Personnel) Monitor and document the Limitations of Coaching and Non-Coaching staff member (Staff designation). Update as necessary when changes happen throughout the year. NCAA Bylaw 16 (Extra Benefits) Monitor the distribution of special achievement and annual participation awards per NCAA guidelines. Monitor the use of Complimentary Tickets for current student-athletes and communicate regularly with the athletics ticket office regarding complimentary tickets. Coordinate, Monitor, and communicate all DCARD needs for Housing & Meals during the Interim periods of the academic year. Monitor all permissible expenses for Practice & Competition, including but not limited to travel parties, meals, entertainment, apparel, equipment, etc. Monitor, Review, and audit all Travel rosters and itineraries, including communication with the Executive Associate Athletics Director for Administration regarding student-athlete missed class time. NCAA Bylaw 17 (Playing & Practice Season) & Applicable Ivy League Regulations Execute all required Sport Season start up information, including the Declaration of playing seasons for each sport and continuous monitoring of Countable Athletic Related Activities (CARA) to ensure compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules. CARA Monitoring. Through the Sport Season start up process, review and audit the permissibility of all competition activities. Including meeting all applicable NCAA Sport Sponsorship requirements. Attend team practice sessions to observe participants and activities. Event Management (10%) Serve as on-site event manager for numerous varsity home contests, including many during non-traditional business hours such as weeknights and weekends. Greet officials, show to locker room, and ensure that assignments are correct for proper payment. Greet visiting team coach, show team to locker room, and be of any assistance. Requirements * WLC generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position * Bachelor’s degree and admission into Wisconsin Lutheran College’s (WLC) Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management or Master of Arts in Education graduate program * Prior successful playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred; successful high school or club coaching experience considered * Commitment to developing positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administration, and the greater WLC community * Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to) * Assist Head Coach with practice planning, preparation, and execution * Aid in implementing a strength and conditioning program * Attend all practices, games, team events, camps, and clinics * Head Varsity Reserve Team Coach: Aid in players’ development in practices and games, schedule games and officials, coordinate travel needs * Identify potential recruits at high school games/tournaments and club tournaments * Attend games and tournaments in Wisconsin and the Midwest area * Initiate contact with recruits via email and phone conversations * Use Slate CRM system to organize recruits and all communication and status updates * Assist Head Coach with on-campus recruiting visits and events * Communicate with WLC admissions department on prospective student-athletes * Upload game film to Hudl and conference pool upon game conclusion * Analyze our own games for ways to improve individuals, offensively, and defensively * Contact teams for footage on opponents. Analyze opponent’s film and put together competent scouting reports * Provide individual academic and athletic feedback and guidance to student-athletes * WLC has a unique religious heritage and commitment.
